Ray Gigant is a dungeon RPG from Bandai Namco that takes place in the year 20XX where every city in the world us overwhelmed by giant monsters called 'Gigants'.
With no signs of victory military resistance has been a wasted effort. That is until one boy named Ichiya Amakazein Tokyo can defeat a Gigant with the help of a 'Yorigami,' incredibly intelligent beings that can unite with humans and act as a weapon and hold a conversation.
Each of the three protagonists Ichiya, Kyle, and Nil have their Yorigami that specializes in Short distance, Middle distance, and Long distance respectively, as well as their chapter in the game told from their perspective in their home city. Each chapter's protagonist will also be accompanied by two different comrades.
The Gigants themselves are each designed after an ancient god beast and range in size from colossal bosses to the weak and feeble. They are aliens that have to invade Earth to eradicate all human life.
The different battle distances will have a direct effect on your viewpoint during the battle, with the types of attacks from each distance being very straightforward. Short distance fighters specialize in melee and physical attacks with swords and axes. Middle distance fighters are out of the range of monster's physical attacks and use mid-range attacks as well as assist comrades fighting from a Short distance. Long-distance fighters are the furthest away and use long-range attacks as well as assist both Middle and Short distance fighters.
