Time travel to a period when protecting the kingdom from bandits, monsters, and otherworldly creatures is an everyday adventure. Skyrim, which started with the original release on the Sony PlayStation 3, is a Bethesda Softworks continuation of the Elder Scrolls games and filled with opportunities to battle against dragons, trolls, witches, and vampires. Create potions with wildflowers, herbs, and special ingredients; forge new weapons, armor, and jewelry from leather, iron, steel, silver, gold, malachite, orichalcum, and ebony ingots; add magical improvements through enchanting items; cast spells to heal, fight the bad guys, and discreetly enter rooms and use special shouts to summon extra fighters or run as fast as the wind. Choose to play the hero as an Argonian, Breton, Dark Elf, High Elf, Imperial, Khajiit, Nord, Orc, Redguard, or Wood Elf and discover a unique extra power and pre-determined skill set. Save multiple games to try out the different characters and themes. Traveling on foot through the Province of Skyrim leads to finding hidden treasure chests, shipwrecks, and Dwarven ruins. Unlock hidden realms where the predictable is replaced by the unexpected. The landscape is dotted with major cities, small towns, farms, and mining camps that span the deep snow covering the northern mountains and crosses over to the beautiful grassy green hills in the southern region. Talking to people and reading books shares secrets of the past, unbelievable stories, and a history of the land. Expedite learning and improving skills through training. As the game levels up, select a perk to focus on in enchanting, alchemy, spells, smithing, light armor, heavy armor, fighting, barter, and magic. Buy and furnish houses across the land or find a place that allows boarders to stay, such as the College of Winterhold or the Sleeping Giant Inn. Search for materials to build a custom home to raise chickens, keep a forge on site, and grow rare ingredients. Introduce elements from the real world with opportunities to get married, adopt children, and become a bard. Each quest can lead to solving puzzles, investigating mysteries, and saving a friendly stranger in need. Persuade another adventurer to be a follower to prevail as a team even in what may seem like a most difficult encounter. Skyrim is part of the open world role-playing video games like Fallout 3. There is no need to follow a particular order to move from one quest to the next or complete within a specific timeframe. When an interesting quest is introduced, follow the clues to start it right away or wait until later to spend time exploring the land and discovering new castles and caves. Enjoy the rewards of coin, weapons, armor, jewels, or a treasure that advances another quest. The vivid colors of the graphics make the gaming experience feel like a surreal event. Update the base game with the DLC that Bethesda Game Studios develops, such as Dragonborn, Dawnguard, and Hearthfire. Skyrim is not available on the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS but can be played on PS3 and PS4, and Microsoft Xbox 360 and Xbox One. For multiplayer enthusiasts who no longer require the PS3, there is an online expanded version. Also not available on the PS3, Skyrim Special Edition can be played on the PS4 Platform.
