A new prince comes into the frame in this reimagining of the majestic Prince of Persia action adventure series.
The original Prince of Persia was a phenomenon of the 80s, giving players a brutal and taxing platforming adventure. Years later, the Prince returned in the hands of Ubisoft in the Sands of Time trilogy. Now, Ubisoft has gone back to basics, giving players a new prince based in a free roaming fantasy environment. Rather than match the realistic tones of previous titles, Prince of Persia takes its inspiration directly from artwork, the game taking on a raw, hand drawn feel with flowing, colourful lines filling the screen.
The platforming the Persia titles are known for returns, but now with a far more versatile and graceful style. Players can clamber across walls and jump great distances with the help of Elika, an ally always on hand to save the prince for death-inducing drops. Combat is also far more intimate; players face off against only one opponent at a time, being forced to string together flowing attacks.
Prince of Persia may star a new prince, but the graceful platforming and close-quarter combat the series is known for is firmly in place.
