Chopper Drop 3000 is a single screen shoot 'em up. The player controls a helicopter and has to drop bombs on an enemy tank that moves on the ground beneath him. At the same time he has to avoid being hit by projectiles not only from the tank but also from a flying object that moves around above him. While hovering stationary the bombs are dropped straight down while when in motion the bomb retains the forward inertia and falls at an angle. The player has to be aware of the helicopter's fuel level but by destroying tanks the fuel is recharged. When hit by a projectile the game ends and the player gets a score based on how many tanks have been destroyed. As the tank count increases the game gets more difficult.

The game is a remake of Chopper Drop, a 1K type-in game that the author wrote in 1983 and which was published in the New Zealand magazine Bits & Bytes in 1984.
