Initial D: Koudou Saisoku Densetsu [ 頭文字D 公道最速伝説 ] is a racing game released in 1998 exclusively in Japan for the SEGA Saturn. The game was developed by Genki and published by Kodansha.
Part of the Initial D media franchise, this game's development pre-dated the release of the anime series, with the anime itself having initial broadcast a little over two months prior to the release of the Saturn title. As a result, the game pulls in material from the manga and takes many liberties with character and vehicle colors. Despite SEGA later licensing the franchise for their long-running Initial D arcade games, this would be the only console release that would appear on a SEGA console.
