Rectangle Battle pays homage to old shooting games from the 70s. The rather limited techniques that were available at that time forced developers to use minimalistic graphics to visualize a game world and its story. Today those games may not look all too fancy when you are used to modern AAA-titles with high-end graphics and moving cameras creating a world almost looking like ours, however they are masterpieces in their own right. The abstract form of those games is not bound to the 70s or 80s, it can also feel appealing to the new generation of gamers. Many developers today have shown this. So take a bit of your time and dwell with us in the earlier days of gaming. Maybe you will come to understand the fun of the abstract and really take your mind off daily life. If you were inspired maybe you would like to look at some of our inspirational titles: Outlaw (1979) on the Atari 2600 Asteroids (1979) Arcade...get ready for some single screen action!
