Star Trek: Legacy is a 2006 real-time tactics/space combat video game for Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360 developed by Mad Doc Software and published by Bethesda Softworks. Originally slated for release in the fall of 2006 to coincide with the 40th anniversary of Star Trek,[3] the PC version of the game wasn't released in North America until 6 December 2006, and the Xbox 360 version until 15 December.[4] In Europe, both the PC version and the Xbox version were released on 22 December 2006.[1][2]
In the game, players control a fleet of various Federation starships (up to four) through three different Star Trek eras in combat against various races. The game represents the first time that the five actors who portrayed each of the captains in the five individual Star Trek shows, William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, and Scott Bakula had participated in the same project.[3][5] The PC version of the game was met with mainly negative reviews,[6][7] whilst the Xbox 360 version fared slightly better with critics.[8][9]
