Metroid II: Return of Samus is an action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy. The first Metroid game for a handheld game console, it was released in North America in November 1991 and in Japan and Europe in 1992. The game follows bounty hunter Samus Aran on her mission to exterminate the Metroids from their home planet before the Space Pirates can obtain them. Players must find and destroy the Metroids to progress through the planet's tunnels.
This is basically an updated version of Dan Davis’ already excellent color file from the Game Boy Colorizer homepage. There are too many individual changes to list, but in general terms here are the changes in the updated version:
All inadvertently revealed secrets are once again secrets!
All mismatched tiles now match!
Small changes to a few sprites.
Very small color changes to a few background elements.
There are a few minor glitches which are documented at the Metroid Evolution site.
V 2.0 UPDATE
Spikeman & Drakon fixed a bunch of stuff and made it so this hack runs on the real hardware. This patch runs start to finish on the real hardware without and major issues.
