Choose your favorite tropical fish, aquatic plants, decorations, etc. in the aquarium, and keep the tropical fish in the Game Boy. Feed it, replace it with water to clean it, and grow it like a real tropical fish. There are more than 20 types of tropical fish in all. Some tropical fish cannot be kept in reality. It is compatible with pocket printers, and it is also possible to retrieve tropical fish data. There are two modes, a "scenario mode" in which the number of tropical fish that can be bred increases as you clear the three scenarios, and a "free mode" in which you can freely breed those fish. You can also exchange fish and eggs with your friends using the communication cable.
