Pocket Monsters Stadium is a video game released exclusively in Japan, in 1998 for the Nintendo 64. In this version, there are only 42 Pokémon instead of all 151 Generation I Pokémon. This game was originally going to be for the Nintendo 64DD, but due to the system failure, it was only released for the Nintendo 64.
A sequel was released the following year, in Japan as Pocket Monsters Stadium 2, on April 30, 1999. This was eventually released in early 2000 outside Japan as simply Pokémon Stadium.
